Power League
I always wanted to be a professional football player, right up to the moment I realised that spending all my spare time in a drinking establishment with a pint in front of me was far easier and caused less cuts and bruises.
When I was younger I played for the Tesco East Didsbury 5-a-side team and the league we chose to play at was the Power League in Heaton Mersey.
Power League Stockport has 10 pitches which are all floodlit so the play can continue right up to 11pm. The changing rooms are large, clean and modern, so you don't have to worry about going home in your sweat coated kit. If you win you can even get the drinks in at the onsite licensed bar. More likely you will be sat with your pints working out why you got beaten 10-0 for the third week running.
The location is only 5 minutes drive from the center of Heaton Moor and with a large free carpark why bother walking or jogging there?
Power League run several leagues, one of which will match the skill level of the team of 5 or more energetic premier league wannabe's that you have gathered together. You play a few games before the leagues begin to get you placed with people of an equal caliber, and then your off. The feeling of winning the league and being promoted is fantastic (I did it once) and if you ever manage to win the top league then let me know because I was never lucky enough to experience that one.
