Burnage Rugby Club
Located in Heaton Mersey, off Didsbury Rd, in South Manchester, Burnage is a community based club looking to continue its growth of recent years. As well as rugby, the club also has a par 3, nine hole golf course, and has regular car boot sales on Sunday mornings. The club also caters for other activities, having seen sports ranging from football, cricket and even korfball played down there in the last 12 months . The clubhouse is available for social functions and events and can be booked directly through the club on 0161 432 21
The main focus of Burnage is rugby. The 1st XV completed an excellent season in 2004/05 by gaining promotion from North Lancs 1 to North Lancs & Cumbria. The coming season brings with it new challenges and the senior squad are eager to match the achievements of last year.
The 2nd XV will play league rugby again this year competing in NW 2nd XV 5 East. The 2s improved greatly as the season developed last year, in what was always going to be a tough first year. With more players joining to boost the ranks they will look to compete for 1st XV positions and push for promotion from their league.
Finally, the U19 Colts will look to expand and build on their excellent season last year and aim to go one further than their semi-final Lancashire cup defeat and lift the trophy this time round.
Burnage are always looking for new players, whether experienced or not and all are welcome to come and train with the club. Training is due to begin from Wednesday June 15th, 7pm start with further sessions on Saturdays at 11am. Once into July there will also be a Monday night session running from 7pm.
